Nushi & Jarred’s Wedding Weekend at The Westin Mount Laurel

Three years ago — August 22, 2023 — we spent a whole wedding weekend with Nushi and Jarred at The Westin Mount Laurel in New Jersey. Sangeet, ceremony, baraat, reception: we designed every event, start to finish. This is how it went, in order.
The sangeet: marigolds, neon, and floor seating
The weekend opened with the sangeet, and it’s where the color lived. Neon arches glowing against a starry backdrop, with low, colorful floor seating pulled right up to the stage so nobody watched from a distance. Marigolds everywhere: on the tables, in the lanterns, in the details you only notice in photographs. When the lights went down, purple uplighting washed the room and the whole space felt like the inside of a celebration.
The ceremony and the baraat
The ceremony brought the weekend back to its center: Nushi and Jarred married on a mandap stage in maroon velvet — the two of them, both families, one moment holding the whole weekend together.
Then the baraat: an outdoor procession with dancing guests and colorful umbrellas, pure joy moving through the open air.
The reception: chandeliers, cold sparks, and a starlit floor
The reception was built around light: the ballroom’s chandeliers, a twinkling starlight dance floor, and a first dance staged under cold sparks and low fog — the kind of moment guests talk about for years. The sweetheart table sat in its own glow. Centerpieces ran tall and low in golds and blush — architectural up high, lush and garden-style down low — so the room had dimension from every seat in the house. Then the cake cutting, and the night did what great receptions do: it refused to end.
The throughline
Here’s what made this weekend different from most: one designer, start to finish. When the same team designs the sangeet and the reception, the weekend has a signature — the marigold warmth of the sangeet echoes in the gold of the reception, and nothing feels pieced together. Nushi and Jarred trusted us with all of it. That trust is the whole job.
Three years later, this weekend still hasn’t faded. Every design, every coordinated detail — still living rent free in our heads. That’s what happens when one team designs the whole thing: it stops being four events and becomes one memory.
